Working with Organisations

Supporting managers and institutions where addiction and stuck patterns affect people and performance.

Straightforward. Confidential. Professionally accountable.

Who this is for

Managers and institutions dealing with addiction or stuck patterns in their people.

Andrew has worked with addiction and compulsive behaviour for nearly twenty years, including within the prison estate, rehabilitation settings, and in private practice. That experience translates directly into practical support for organisations where these patterns are affecting individuals, teams, or culture.

Just as individuals can become trapped in patterns that diminish judgement, flexibility and purpose, organisations can also become stuck. Teams may lose the capacity for healthy challenge, leadership may become reactive rather than reflective, and a clear mission can gradually give way to maintaining the status quo. Recognising these patterns early can prevent significant personal and organisational harm.

This is not a corporate training programme. It is a focused, confidential service for managers who need clear thinking and practical support around a specific person or situation.

Typical situations include:

  • Managers supporting a member of staff with addiction or compulsive behaviour
  • HR teams navigating a disciplinary or welfare situation involving substance use
  • Leaders seeking a confidential space to reflect on difficult decisions, personal pressures or recurring patterns that may be influencing judgement
  • Institutions wanting a confidential external referral route for individuals
  • One to one consultation on a specific situation or case
  • Whiteboard briefings for small leadership teams on addiction and behaviour change

The aim is not to diagnose organisations, but to help people within them recognise patterns that have become difficult to see from the inside. All work is carried out within the BACP Ethical Framework. Confidentiality applies in full.

How it works

A conversation first. Everything else follows from there.

Initial consultation

A confidential conversation to understand the situation and whether Andrew is the right person to help. No charge for the initial call.

Format

Face to face in Hull, online via Zoom, or by structured written exchange. Format is agreed at the outset and suited to the situation.

Fees

Fees are discussed and agreed before work begins. Organisational rates differ from individual therapy rates and are agreed case by case.

Professional accountability

All work sits within the BACP Ethical Framework. Andrew holds Enhanced DBS, full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

When the word is restored, the person often follows. The same is true of organisations. When patterns become visible and language becomes clearer, the capacity for genuine change returns.
