Healing
Two professional frameworks. One healing intention.
Practised within clear, ethically accountable boundaries.
How Andrew works
The work I do today is accountable through two professional frameworks, not one.
Over nearly twenty years, the work has clarified itself. What began as addiction counselling has deepened into something that touches the whole person: their language, their meaning, their capacity for connection, and their sense of what is true.
To practise that honestly, two distinct professional frameworks are needed. Each has its own code of conduct, its own scope, and its own accountability. They complement one another without becoming confused.
The two certificates on the wall of Andrew's counselling room are the BACP membership and The Healing Trust membership. They are there because they represent the work as it actually is.
Two modalities. Two Codes of Conduct. One healing intention, practised within clear, permeable and professionally accountable boundaries.

Counselling
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Andrew is a registered member of BACP, including the Spirituality Division. Counselling work is governed by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This covers the therapeutic relationship, confidentiality, scope of practice, and ongoing supervision.
The Spirituality Division reflects Andrew's understanding that addiction and recovery often touch questions of meaning, conscience, and what it means to be human. These are not separate from the clinical work. They are at its centre.

The Healing Trust
Andrew is a member of The Healing Trust (MTHT) and holds the CSTIP qualification. Healing work is governed by The Healing Trust Code of Conduct, which sets its own standards for practice, professional boundaries, and accountability.
This modality operates alongside counselling without being blended with it. Each has its own distinct scope. Together they allow Andrew to serve the whole person within clear, professionally accountable boundaries.
The Healing TrustWhere DRT fits
DRT is the conceptual framework. The two modalities are how it is delivered.
Diction Resolution Therapy is not a third modality alongside counselling and healing. It is the underlying architecture that informs how Andrew understands addiction, language, meaning, and recovery. It shapes the questions he asks and the direction of the work.
The counselling and healing frameworks provide the professional and ethical structures within which that understanding is practised. Each stays within its own scope. DRT informs both without replacing either.
